Question Description

For thousands of years, different societies have attempted to understand, and successfully manage deviations in human behavior considered to be problematic. Efforts at managing what would later be known as mental disorders derive from various theories or models of behavior relative to a particular time period. Three models have primarily guided our work as mental health professionals when applying interventions. These three models are known as the supernatural, the biological, and the psychological. (Although the supernatural does not generally guide our work in Western medicine, it is considered in other parts of the globe currently). Please explain and offer a comprehensive and succinct description of each model, considering each models’ implication on your work in the present day.

Lastly, please read the chapter’s material on defense mechanisms in conjunction with the attached document in this thread. Select one defense mechanism and cite an example from your work with a client in a clinical setting to illustrate this defense mechanism as exhibited by the client. If you are not presently working with clients in a professional capacity, apply the defense mechanism to a hypothetical scenario so that I may determine your understanding of the defense mechanism and offer helpful feedback.
