Instructions: Students will select ONE of the following topics for their Writing Assignment 1. Students will use the information from the Patterns of World History (vol 2) textbook, Chapters 22 and 23 to answer the following prompts. Students will write 1-2 paragraphs, using specific examples and details to support their comments (minimum 300 words). Students should also include a DIRECT QUOTE from the textbook. Please cite the quote by including the page number after the quote, such as “history is fun” (p. 44). In order to submit the assignment, students can either copy and paste it as a “text” entry into the space provided OR they can attach a WORD document. You cannot attach google pages, etc…. So, if you do not have Word, just use the text submission option. Latin American Independence: The Creoles Assert their Power Describe the Latin American independence movements of the early nineteenth century as movements for creole independence from Spanish authority. Contrast these with the slave revolt that led to the independence of Haiti from French authority. Discuss the economic and social concerns of the creoles as a class, and how they viewed independence from direct Spanish control as a way of maintaining their status and economic dominance as a class. please let me know if you have the book before bidding!
