Each student will develop a plan for data extraction from an electronic health record system and/or other information system(s) to explore a potential patient care problem. This topic CANNOT be the same problem addressed in your practicum groups or that you have written about in prior courses. This paper will include a determination of potential data sources, methods for accessing/extracting the data, a critique of strengths and weaknesses of the data and data sources, and potential systems/technology improvements to enhance data collection and/or improve data sources. This paper should be no longer than 6 pages in APA format (not including cover sheet and references).
